The Vinayaka Mission's College
of Pharmacy, Salem is the pioneer institution in the trust, which
plays a vital role in the field of Pharmacy.There is an ever-increasing
demand for Pharmacist in India and abroad. To cater the needs of the
young aspirants, the Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy was established
in the year 1982 for offering Diploma in Pharmacy with a focused objective
of bringing about intellectual awakening of people around and to prepare
man power capable to contribute effectively towards national development
particularly economic development.
So far several hundred students have passed out from this college successfully and they are practicing Pharmacy in India and abroad. Subsequently in the year 1993 the Govt. of Tamilnadu has accorded its approval for starting of B.Pharmacy Degree course. The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University also granted its affiliation for conducting B.Pharmacy degree Course.In the year 2003, the college started Post graduate course in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy , Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical analysis. Now it has become a constituent college of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation of Deemed University (VMRF-DU).
It is not our intention merely to add one more college to the existing number of colleges in India. It shall be our great endeavour to develop this college as a 'CENTRE FOR LEARNING". The basic aim is to develop a Pharmacist who is not only a specialist in his field, but also a useful member in the society with compassion, confidence and competence to serve patients effectively and safely. The college is provided with best laboratory facilities like latest machinery, instruments etc., so as to acquire latest knowledge to fit themselves in any of the best Pharmaceutical industries on par with international standard.
The College was approved and recognised by the Government and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). This is a constituent College of the Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed University (VMRF-DU), Salem.

Infrastructure

Library: The library of
this college needs a special mention. It has a huge collection of classics
and latest books on Pharmaceutical sciences and equipped with Internet
facility. The college library which caters for all the subjects with
more than 3000 volumes is one of the largest collections of books on
Pharmacy in the state and continuously enriched with recent publications.
The library subscribes more than 60 national and international journals.
It also has the collection of Government publications and documents published by other international agencies. The thesis collection includes copies of project works of the college. It also holds the printed sets of indexes and abstracts covering subjects researched and studied in the college. The library has institutional memberships of other specialized libraries of our country, from which books are procured for the students whenever needed.
The open access system is being followed in the library to opt the required reading materials directly without any barrier. The users are communicated about the information of the new arrivals by exhibiting them promptly. The librarians can help users exploit library collections and the resources to the full and support services such as net worked databases, CD-ROMS and access to the internet.
