Research platform to facilitate translation of veterinary technology
Chennai: The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, in association with Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) will form a ‘Translational Research Platform for Veterinary Biologicals', said R. Prabakaran, Vice-Chancellor, here on Monday.
Giving details about the functioning of this new unit, Dr. Prabakaran said that it would facilitate the translation of technologies by performing product development, validation, obtaining regulatory approvals and, finally, make the product commercially viable.
It would also be a referral centre to strengthen linkages and collaboration in the area of animal vaccine and diagnostics development, exchange of biological materials, technology assessment, supporting training, consultation and intellectual property development.
The new facility would be created on the TANUVAS campus at Madhavaram at a cost of Rs.22.93 crore, which would be spent in the next five years.
