Chennai: From the second semester onwards, the prose section in Tamil will have a portion exclusively dealing with classical Tamil, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy said on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters after discussing the modalities with Vice-Chancellors of arts and science colleges, he said “it has been decided to implement Classical Tamil as a subject in the prose section from this academic year. As it is already late this year, we will include the subject from the second semester onwards.
