First phase of UG counselling begins

Coimbatore: Counselling for admission to undergraduate courses in the single window system began at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Wednesday. It will continue till Sunday.
“As many as 7,181 candidates had applied to the university to pursue an undergraduate degree in any of the 12 disciplines. The university shortlisted 1,561 candidates in accordance with the cut-off mark based on the aggregate obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Plus Two examinations”, V. Jayabal, Dean (Agriculture), said.
Those with cut-off marks from 198.25 to 185.50 (out of 200) were called for the counselling on the first day. Out of the 154 candidates who were called for in the forenoon session, 77 were admitted, and out of the 161 who were called for the afternoon session, 93 got admitted. The three toppers are: S. Vanji Nathan (198.25) from Dharmapuri chose B.Sc. Agriculture. R. Monica (198.25) from Coimbatore chose Biotechnology, and B. Nithyapriya (198) from Mettupalayam chose B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering. The university planned to admit 924 students. The second phase for the reserved quota would be held on July 7.
