Arts college in Vandavasi taluk to start functioning from this academic year
Tiruvannamalai: The new Government Arts College in Vandavasi taluk will start functioning from the current academic year. It will function from rented premises in Thennangur, said District Collector M.Rajendran.
Speaking to the reporters here on Monday, Mr. Rajendran said that B.Sc. in Maths, Physics and Computer Science, B.A. English literature and B.Com. are the courses to be offered this year. “Distribution of applications for these courses will begin on Thursday. For construction of permanent buildings for the college, a 10-acre site has been identified near Thennangur.
Similarly, a new government polytechnic would start functioning from this academic year at Karappattu in Chengam taluk, he said. “Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics (EEE), Electronics and Communication and Computer Science are the five streams to be offered this year. Sixty students would be admitted in each stream. The government has allotted Rs.7.49 crore for construction of permanent buildings for the polytechnic at Karappattu, he added.
