VIT signs pact with Botswana varsity
Vellore: The University of Botswana has entered into an academic alliance with the VIT University, Vellore, for exchange of faculty and students.
G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT, and Othlogile, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Botswana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective institutions during the visit of Mr. Viswanathan to Botswana recently.
According to a release from R. Nandakummar, Public Relations Officer, VIT, during the VIT Chancellor's visit to Botswana, Mr. Othlogile highlighted the importance of the agreement and the possible outcome and benefits to his university.
Responding to his speech, Mr. Viswanathan gave an account of the VIT, its vision and how it could help Botswana to empower its students and faculty by providing them with opportunities to acquire higher academic qualifications. He reiterated the VIT's commitment to support Africa.
Later, Mr. Viswanathan, accompanied by N.T. Rao, Director, International Relations, VIT University, called on Madhava Chandra, Indian High Commissioner to Botswana, and had discussions with him on educational ties between India and Botswana.
