MKU urged to recognise Institute of Gandhian Studies as research centre
Madurai: An appeal was made to Madurai Kamaraj University to recognise the Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research in Gandhi Memorial Museum here as a research centre. At the university's Academic Council meeting on Thursday, a member, R. Srinivasan, said that the move would benefit research scholars pursuing Gandhian studies and Gandhian Thought.
“It is already an approved institute of the university,” the member said. Vice-Chancellor R. Karpaga Kumaravel replied that the matter would be looked in to and a decision taken only if the required number of faculty members was available.
Another request was to take steps to fill vacant administrative/non-teaching posts. The VC said the next focus would be on non-teaching posts.
