College placement drive inaugurated
- More companies, including some from the core sector, has expressed interest in the drive
Chennai: The State-level placement drive for the Chennai zone for self-financing colleges affiliated to Anna University was inaugurated on Monday by Vice-Chancellor P. Mannar Jawahar.
S. Selvam, director, Centre for University Industry Collaboration (CUIC), said 997 students from 82 colleges had turned up for a written test administered by Cognizant at Saveetha Engineering College. Of these, 300 had been selected for interviews slated for Tuesday, he said.
The drive is being conducted by Anna University in three zones, with Infosys and Accenture already having visited Tirunelveli and Coimbatore for recruitment. More companies, including some from the core sector, had expressed interest in participating in the drive in which students who had scored 80 per cent and above in the first seven semesters were allowed to participate, he said.
