of Madras - Admission to Ph.D Degree Programme for Non-Stipendiary Candidates
Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D Degree from Non-stipendiary candidates for Full-Time / Part Time Programme in the Departments of the University, Colleges affiliated to this University and Recognised Research Institutions for July 2008 session.

Important Dates to Remember:
The date of issue of application is 1st June to 30th June 2008 for July session; 1st September to 30th September 2008 for October 2008 session; 1st December to 31st December 2008 for January 2009 session and 1st March 2009 to 31st March 2009 for April 2009 session.
The last date for receipt of filled-in applications is 1st July 2008 for July session, 1st October 2008 for October session, 1st January 2009 for January session, 1st April 2009 for April for April session.

Mode of Payment (DD):
Demand Draft in favour of "The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai - 600 005" payable at Chennai. The name
and address of the candidate should be written in the reverse
of the demand draft.
Application Forms:
- In Person: Application form can be obtained
on payment in cash at the Institute (IDE) / Study Centers
/ Spot Admission centers.
- By Post: From "The Registrar, University of Madras" by sending
a letter along with DD and an address label written in capital
letters to which the application is to be mailed.
- Through Website: The application form can

after filling the required details and the same may be sent
to the below address along with the DD.
Eligbility:
- Full Time: A candidate should have obtained a Master's Degree with not less than Second Class or equivalent grade. In the case of examinations, where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% marks in needed in the qualifying examination.
A candidate should pass an Entrance Examination (Written and Oral) administered by duly constituted committee of the Department in the University or of an affiliated college where the candidate proposes to undergo Ph. D programme.
- Part Time: (a) A Teacher working in the Department of the University or of an affiliated college of the University or Higher Secondary School or High School or Polytechnic within the territorial jurisdiction and with a qualifying degree fulfilling the above eligibility can apply.
(b) A candidate employed other than as a teacher in a permanent job, within the territorial jurisdiction of this University with a minimum of four years of total working experience put in with the qualifying degree and satisfying the rules framed separately by the Syndicate from time to time with the above eligibility can apply.
